Promoted to Corporal at The Second Battle of Ypres (Battle of Gravenstafel Ridge - April 22nd 1915). This is the first time the Germans use Chlorine Gas on the western front. Invalided to Canada Dec 1915 after diagnosis of TB is made following treatment for brustitis elbow injury sustained during route march. Long recuperation at Ninette Sanitorium, but never regains fitness to return to active service. |
